A Day With the Cousins

First we gotta tell you about Conner's lip. Not to be outdone by his cousin Tanner, Conner decided to slice open his lip during a fall at Grandma's last night. His tooth cut all the way through to the front but it closed up so quick that we weren't too worried. It swelled up really big last night but today it is more purple than anything.

Conner's cousins, Owen and Sydney, came over for a few hours this moring and they got in some great play time. We have all the dining room chairs on their sides because Conner won't stop crawling on the table- So, Owen and Conner decided to make a fort under the table and they wouldn't let Sydney in at first (she wasn't too happy).

Conner and Owen climbed on this box together and had so much fun. I told Owen to give Conner a kiss on the cheek and he actually did... I couldn't believe it!

Later that day we all went to music class together. Conner has a hard time staying in the same area and would rather just run around on his own. He is getting a little better at participating but I often wonder "Why aren't any of the other kids running out the door and down the hall?"

Don't you love it when they sleep in this position?
Poor little guy has a fever, but he's still as cheery as ever.
He had a long trip to Costco today that wore him out. He also helped me to finish decorating for Christmas (maybe I should say he helped me undecorate...). He can't keep his little hands off the tree ornaments.
I also can't have the stockings hanging from the mantle...he almost pulled the heavy metal stocking holder down on top of his head.

Here's a quick pic of our tree. I still need to add a few more lights (I realized after taking this picture) and I am going to load it down with tinsel. Should we keep a running tab on how many of Conner's diapers contain tinsel throughout the holiday season?

Saturday at the Park

Josh's cousin, Caitlin, just turned one and we got to go to her birthday party in the park. All the kids and family had such a wonderful time. Caitlin had so much fun she fell asleep right in the middle of her party. So all the other kids decided to play with her new toys.

Caitlin holds on to her daddy when
the other kids make her a little nervous.

ITS A........

All of Josh's dreams have come true today...its a boy!!!

"It" was all laid out there on display for us to see. No deciphering going on in this ultrasound. Josh shed a few tears of joy and I was just relieved that all the measurements and observations seem great.

He weighs about 14 oz- which is a little large but right on target with what Conner weighed at this time. If I can just keep this one at or under Conner's 9lb. 6oz. I will be good to go at delivery. Hee Hee.

Here's some pictures of our new little guy.

You can see his profile, his foot, and his long skinny legs and hip bones.

Blogging Obsession

So, Raechal and I were talking the other day about how obsessed we were with blogging. It seems we do the same things... If I am on the computer, I check my blog every 15 minutes or so to see if anyone has made a comment and then I check on other people's blogs to see if they have updated. CRAZY! I get all bummed if there has been no action anywhere. I have had to limit my blog viewing and sometimes I force myself to just leave the computer off. PROBLEMS!!

UH-OH

It is 11:30 at night. I am on the computer and Josh is watching TV, when all the sudden we hear, "Uh-Oh" over the monitor from Conner's room. We are cracking up! Is he even awake or is he saying Uh-Oh in his sleep too? It seems to be his new favorite word for everything!

Blondie

HA HA! Josh bought us a multifunctional printer today!!! What a great guy!!!

So, I found a blonde picture of me to scan. It is on my b-day when I am like 30 or something. My best friends from San Diego are in the shot with me. Tina on the left and Traci on the right. I don't mean to brag (Hee Hee), but this is a pretty good picture of us...it makes me think I should start caring about my current appearance a little bit more.

Hey T and Teen...do you remember this night...way before our kids??

Seven Things About Me

RULES:

1. List the link to your tagger and also post these following rules.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog - some random, some weird, etc.
3. Tag 7 people at the the end of your blog also leaving the links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are “TAGGED” by leaving a comment on their blog.
Seven things about me.

1. Over the past fifteen years, I have had many different hair colors. Highlights, extremely blonde, red with strawberry blonde chunks, black, dark cherry, chestnut with large blonde chunks... and it has almost always been long- except a couple of Christmas's ago when I cut it short and it was black. What's next?

2. I am addicted to sweets. I crave and seek them out constantly. I think I may have an overgrowth of yeast in my stomach or something. I actually have several symptoms of this problem but I can't do anything about it at the moment because I am pregnant.

3. I was a swimmer from about 8 years old until 19. I was pretty good and set a couple of records in high school (100 IM and Free Relay). There was a time that I got really burned out but I had a coach who gave me a few pep talks that kept me in the sport. I really miss swimming and would like to take it up again. Maybe when Josh stops leaving early and working late or the kids start school...

4. I was born and raised in Moscow, Idaho (17 years), then I moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin because my mom got remarried and my new dad got a job at the University there as a chemistry professor. I lived there for almost 4 years then had to get away from the cold. I moved to San Diego and lived with a friends uncle for 3 months until I found a place of my own. I lived and went to school at SDSU for 6 years and then moved to Las Vegas for around 6-8 months. I moved back to San Diego and lived there for about 2 more years until I met Josh. I moved to Orange County at that point and lived with Josh's parents for almost 2 years then Josh moved in as well (and we were married). We lived there a little over one more year and then got our condo in RSM. I have been in OC ever since.

5. I am kind of a loner and very independent (which I am trying to change). I am an only child and spent a lot of time on my own growing up. Because I moved out at a fairly young age and moved across the country from my parents, I learned strong independence. I just kind of do what I gotta do...by myself. I have been trying to make more friends and become closer to them. Anyone wanna call me and hang out? Do I sound pathetic???

6. I always knew I wanted to have a baby or two but I NEVER knew how much I would love it. I absolutely LOVE being a mom. I never knew I had it in me to be so nurturing and loving towards a little one. It is unexplainable.

7. One of the things I really miss doing is dancing. I used to love to dance. My friends or Josh and I would get all dressed up and go out dancing. I love to dance, I love music, I love to feel the rhythm in my soul! Hee Hee.

*Bonus* I really love country music. I swore I never would.
I am tagging Sarah, because I think she is the only other blogger (that I have addresses to) that hasn't been tagged. By the way, if anyone talks to Robyn, can you tell her to invite me and Raechal to her blog!!!! Jeesh!
Oh wait! I have to tag Ashley too!! You're it!

Josh, Rachel, & Conner (Us)

Well, Here we are one year ago. Look how tiny Conner is and how chubby I am.

I wanted to post some pics of our family (below) so you could put the names to the faces. Just know that these pics were from a year ago and we have all worked very hard to lose collectively over 150 pounds. Thank you very much!!
You may be wondering why I have hardly any recent pictures...it is because Josh uses our camera daily for work. So when we have personal pictures on it, he takes them to the office and downloads them onto his computer. So I have to wait until he copys them onto a disc for me and bring them home- which takes ages!! HINT HINT JOSH!!

Bill & Margaret (my parents)

Mitch & Sharon (Josh's parents)

Scott & Ashley (Josh's brother)

Andrew, Jessica, Raeley, Brooklyn, Tanner, & Miles (Josh's oldest sister- but he is still the oldest)

Toby, Raechal, Owen, & Sydney (Raechal is Josh's middle sister)

Shelby (Josh's littlest sister)

Stopping to Appreciate all I Have

Elder Eyring asked us to reflect and record daily how the hand of God has touched us. I need to convey to you how he blessed me in a huge way on October 2nd.
I was driving on the 405 Freeway in stop and go traffic (without Conner). Traffic was briefly up to speed and then suddenly stopped. I stopped and then looked in my mirror to see the guy behind me coming very fast. I thought, "this guy is gonna hit me". Sure enough, he rearended me so hard that it put my truck into a spin that almost flipped it (accoding to a witness). The truck spun, hit the center divide, and spun a tad bit more until it came to a stop facing traffic in the carpool lane. My head reared back on impact and hit the rear facing baby seat behind me, cutting my head open. My arms shot up in the shape of an L and my hands were crinkled up like a witch's. As I was spinning around, I couldn't lower or feel my arms. All I could think was that I was paralyzed and wouldn't be able to take care of Conner and Josh. Finally, when the truck came to a stop, I sat there freaked out and after about 10 seconds, my arms started to lower on their own and they and my feet began to tingle. I wiggled my fingers and toes and leaned my head on the steering wheel in relief, taking huge breaths and blowing out slowly. Holy Moly! I was ok! I could see a man in my side mirror walking up and he was on the phone so I assumed he was calling the police and I was relieved that I didn't have to. The gentleman opened my door and asked if I was ok. He made it clear to the dispatch that he was an off duty police officer. He relayed all the accident info for me (as the primary witness) and I told him I was pregnant and having slight cramping and head pain. The firemen and paramedics came...the firemen were SOOOO nice and helpful. They put me in a neck brace, on a gurney, and into the ambulance to the hospital.
A couple stitches and baby heart rate monitoring hours later I was out of the hospital and in the sweet arms of my husband who cancelled all his appointments to stay home with me.
Man, it makes me super emotional just to think about the details again...but as you can see, God was with me that day in so many ways. He had no plans to put me out of commission...I have a family to take care of!!!!
I love you all and I hope that you can ponder the ways in which God blesses you each day!!

Babies, Babies, and more Babies

Oh,by the way, for those of you who don't know...I am 18 weeks and 4 days pregnant!!! The baby will be due on April 2nd (no jokes please, Hee Hee). We will be finding out the sex on November 12th and we are so excited. I am feeling a lot better. The first 4 months were a little rough. My sickness has subsided but not gone away completely this time (like it did with Conner...is this a sign?)
The attached picture is a picture of the fetal development of a baby at 18 weeks- but this is not a picture of the one in my tummy.
We think that Conner may have a rough time with the transition from only child to big brother...keep your fingers crossed for us.

Christmas

Good Morning friends!
I read a friend of mine's blog the other day and she admitted to listening to Christmas music already. So, I had to confess my mutual affinity for the season. I have been listening to Christmas music since September. What? Is this so bad? I was also excited to see Christmas decorations appearing in stores in September.
I am not sure why Christmas brings me such joy. I think it may be a thing I have for the past...who knows.
Anyways, the actual day is less than 8 weeks away. So, you better get shopping!

Halloween

Check out the pumpkins we carved this year for Halloween at my sister's blogspot http://www.carronfamily.blogspot.com/. They turned out really great! Toby and Raechal carved three each and and I only carved two (Dumbledore and Voldemort). Man, this project took us all day and we kind of consorted to limit ourselves to one pumpkin each next year. Anyways, ENJOY!

TAH DAH!!!

By popular request...I have submitted a picture of this Josh guy so that you all could see he really does exist!! I know that Josh will be a little miffed about this specific picture because he currently weighs about 30 pounds less than he did here. This photo is pre-Conner (a couple of years ago) on a trip to Albuquerque. I promise to get some more updated photos as soon as Josh brings home the archives.
By the way...our home computer is finally up and running so I plan to get down with this blogging thing!!

Lukies Legacy

A really great friend of mine from Wisconsin recently emailed me about a condition they discovered their son had. He has a genetic disorder called Sanfilippo which has no cure. Please take some time to check out their web site and possibly donate to their Walk for a Cure coming in September. http://lukieslegacy.wordpress.com/

Beach Club Day

This is a great pic of Conner and a couple of his cousins at the beach club by our house. He loves the little lagoon and he goes straight in the water. Eventually he heads out to the sand for a little sand snack. What a great day. We love our little waterbug!

PREPARE TO BE AMAZED

Well Hello again! I realize it's been a billion years since my last blog. Finally got a little time today and access to Raechal's computer. Check out how big Conner has gotten! This is a picture from a couple of weeks ago and Conner's first time to Disneyland. Believe it or not, he could actually go on some of the kiddie rides and I think he liked Buzz Lightyear's ride the best. You should have seen his eyes...as big as saucers they were!!!!! He only took a 45 minute nap that day and then refused to sleep until 9:30 that night. We had so much fun! Josh is not a big Dinsneyland fan but says he won't mind standing in line the next time we want to go, as long as Conner has the tiime of his life.

Pimps on Easter???

OH, Aren't Easter clothes so much fun?! Shelby got this little outfit for Conner at his baby shower...it worked perfectly for our Easter Day at church. Josh says "I like it" Woohoo Josh, don't get too excited.

A GREAT DAY WITH LUKIE

We had such a fabulous day out by the Mauss' for Luke's birthday. They brought some horses out for us to check out and Conner had an absolute blast. He takes after his mom in his love for animals. Josh says his allergies will relax in a couple of days.

Easter Day

Another Easter has almost come and gone. Our day began with a wonderful day at church with the whole family and wonderful speakers to listen to.

At home, Conner took a nap and Josh and I watched "Infamous" (about Truman Capote)...has anyone else seen this?

Then, we all met at Grandma Owens' house, looked for eggs at the park, and now we are on our merry way to eating. Jenny Craig has no part in this day. Josh says he read in the Bible somewhere that it says about Easter "Eat today and be merry, for tomorrow you will eat Jenny Craig." Needless to say, we will all be very engourged tonight.

Moon Landing a Hoax!!!

Josh says that the Lunar Landing is real...he's heard all the rumors and he doesn't believe them. I agree (for once). I mean, come on people!!!
