The Progression of Days

Wyatt William Owens Born 3/19/08 at 6:02PM 9lbs 3oz 20 inches long. Instant relief following a "slightly" (Ha Ha) painful but quick birth. This birth was better and worse than Conner's birth in so many ways. The following days have been a little easier (thank Heaven for pain relievers). Grandma Owens and Raechal have helped me out immensely and I have not been alone since the birth. More to come when I can sit at the computer a little longer.
For now, enjoy some pictures!!

Conner with his Aunt Liza

Checking out the grungy animals in the petting zoo.

Picking up Easter Eggs!

Still Here

Hey there everyone. I have been on a slight hiatus from blogging because my cousin was in town for a few days. She was down here for a work conference and so she extended her stay to hang out for a while. It was great having her here and she got a chance to meet a lot of my friends! Just a few updates on what's going on here.
Conner thought he was Evil Knievel one night and thought he would put his big stuffed dog below the chair and jump onto it. Of course he overshot, but didn't seem to be hurt. Daddy made him stop and gave him a little lecture. So we showed him how to sit on his bum and then slide off the chair instead.

On the 15th we went to the park for the SAMLARC Spring Fling and met a bunch of friends there. Conner did a little Easter egg hunting (he would gather eggs for random kids and put them in their Easter Baskets), tractor riding, pony riding, and running around. He wished he could have gone on the bounce houses, but there were only 3 or 4 houses for a zillion BIG kids and so I didn't let him go on. He still had fun. Then we all went to Chipotle for lunch and Josh met us there.

Can you tell who's bellies these are?

Our hummingbirds came back again this year (can you spot him in the tree above?)to make a nest out in our front patio area. There are two tiny eggs in the nest about the size of your pinkynail. It's so cute when they hatch and smush each other for space in a nest no bigger than half your palm. I will update you with pictures.

Still set to induce on the 19th at 7:00AM.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Last Trip to Disneyland

Today was the last day I could make it to Disneyland before Wyatt comes. We met a bunch of friends there and had a really great time...but I was dragin'. Seriously, it was tough for me this time. Wyatt is knocking on my door. Conner enjoyed himself immensely though and that is what mattered most to me today!

Conner checking out the new stroller.
Saying goodbye to the old stroller...in my favorite pajamas on him.

Putting on his "eyes," as he calls them.

Zoning on Mister Rogers neighbor-hood.

My new best friends. Keeps 'em from swelling and gives me extra padding for the extra weight.

Today

Conner has an ear infection again, they discovered at the ER the other night. Gave him Amoxicillin (which never works) and it hasn't worked. Still got a fever...a little cranky after naps. Got a call into the doctor to see if he'll prescribe another antibiotic without me having to take Conner in.
Picked up the double jogger tonight from REI. They assembled it for me! Awesome! It kicks butt! So light and easy to steer. Gonna read up on how to work everything on it tonight.
Put the baby car seat into the car- after it got a car wash- after it had it's expensive 40 thousand mile tune up. Runs great. Got synthetic oil so I don't need another oil change for 7,000 miles!
Visited a friend who had knee surgery today. Josh and I took him apple cobbler from Red Robin.

Senor Handsome Pants Goes to Church

Conner has some fake rocks that go with some of his plastic animals. He puts them in his mouth to taste, says "Ucky", then takes them into the kitchen and throws them into the sink. Strange.

Conner's New 'do

Just so you all know...The Hat charged me $6.50 for a hamburger patty for Conner (since he can't have the bun). Won't be going ther again until they change that policy. They stink!

And, the Corner Bakery Cafe makes their oatmeal with milk (they don't just pour it on) which we found out after it came to the table (but they accomodated us and made some plain oatmeal for Conner). They Rock!

Conner got a haircut a couple of days ago.

Sorry Elvis

I am sorry to shame you Elvis...you know I love you and your music.

But, today, I feel like I look like you at this stage in your life. I don't think I could retain any more water if I tried.

Little Diddie

Conner helped me put together the baby cradle this morning. He stuck the screws in the holes and turned them and used a screwdriver too! He was so tickled with himself, he would squeal every time he put a screw in. QT!
I forgot to mention that when we had Wyatt's most recent ultrasound we could see lots of curly hair on his head. Just like Conner had. I wonder if it will be black like Conner's was?
I'm tired today. I think I will try to get some shower thank you's done before I go to bed though.

It's Raining!

I posted the pictures that didn't accentuate my double chin!! HA!
The Shower was a big hit!! A lot of people went to A LOT of work to make it really nice for Sunny and I. There was Great stuff to eat thanks to all the cookie bakers and goodie bringers and yummy fixers! And thanks to Linda for hosting it in her beautiful home.
Wyatt made out like a bandit and will have a whole slew of new clothes for himself (not hand me downs from friends, family, and Conner- not that hand me downs are bad mind you). The little outfits are so adorable and I can't wait to try them all out on him. Conner also got a couple of things as the BIG BROTHER...he just doesn't have any idea what he's in for.
Now I just have to unpack everything, wash everything, and then put everything away. Is a mother's work ever done?? Hee Hee.
Thanks everyone for helping with and/or coming to the shower. Sorry if I didn't get a chance to talk with you if I didn't...
12 MORE DAYS!!!

Our Little Guy

Odds and Ends

I wonder what happens to my baby widget when it gets past the due date??

When we were at the ER the other night, I was sitting on a chair with my legs up and crossed. Conner was running around but suddenly came over by me and started standing on one foot with his other foot. I was like- what the heck are you doing kid? Then he sat down and put his feet up and crossed them...just like his mommy. So cute.

Went to Disneyland today. Thanks Rae, Owen, and Syders for such a fun time! Conner is getting into the rides now. Making noises and he even held the gun on Buzz Lightyear.

Bought a double baby stroller/jogger combination yesterday. Its a BOB Revolution Duallie..and way cool. I look forward to trying it out- both in general and as a jogger.

Josh was really phlegmy when he woke up this morning but he says he is feeling better this afternoon. He has "Mormon Basketball" tonight...hopefully he can still pull out the skills while under the weather.

So excited for the baby shower tomorrow night. Can't wait to see lots of friends and snack on goodies.

I feel like I should be doing something...

Happy Days!

First, I have to say thanks to all my family and friends over their support and concern for Conner! He is doing great. A little weird from all the yucky medications he is taking but still great. Thank you.
Ok, on to the main business of the day. I had an ultrasound this morning and Wyatt is measuring HUGE. He is measuring 8 lbs 11 oz.- which is even bigger than Conner measured at this time. WHAT?? Ok, so even if they are a pound off- he could be 7 lbs. 11 oz. which would still put him at 9-10 pounds when he is scheduled to be born in one month- at this rate he will be over 10. NO THANKS!
With that said, my doc suggested we schedule an induction for 2 weeks early! YIPEE! We are all scheduled to go for 3/19/08.
Mark your calendars and pray for us!

Hey Guys, This is Serious!!

So, I have been a little lax lately on keeping my eye on Conner about the whole allergy thing. He's accidentally had a few goldfish here and there and seemed to be fine...I thought, even maybe, that they were starting to go away. Why I thought this I'm not sure.
Anyways, he got a hold of some milk yesterday. I don't know how much...we just caught him in the act of spilling it all down the front of his shirt. I didn't ask the questions I should have!! How much did he ingest? Did you see him ingest any? I sat him down to eat and he pushed his food away without taking a bight and hoarsely saying "All Done". So, I picked him up and put him on the ground. The Lord (yes, I said God) told me at that moment to take off his shirt (because it was soaked with milk and might be giving him hives). I did this and, sure enough, he was all red and had hives. Then I noticed his voice being hoarse. He kept saying things and he sounded like he had a really sore throat and needed to cough.
HELLO!! Anybody in there Rachel!!! Duh! I was just thinking- Wow, that sore throat really came on quick (Josh had had a sore throat that morning).
Suddenly I put two and two together and realized he was having an anaphylactic reaction!! He was having a hard time breathing and swallowing and his chin swelled up on the outside ( I can't imagine what it was doing to him on the inside). I grabbed the epi-pen from the car and Josh stabbed the sucker into his leg. Ouch!!! Did you see the size of this needle? Poor Conner. He only cried while we were holding the shot into his leg (15 seconds) then stopped and held onto Daddy. I was so scared and worried for my little guy. We rushed him to the ER where we spent a little over 4 hours making sure his oxygen count was ok.
He's ok. He's got lots of meds to make sure his lungs and throat don't tighten up again but he's ok. And we had the epi-pen on hand...and Josh was there to be strong and support us and keep us occupied in the ER...and we had lots of family around us to help and pray...and I can't thank Heavenly Father enough for helping us through this.

Women's Conference

We had Women's Conference today. It was very fulfilling for me. I always learn so much yet I know there is still so much to learn. I am so far away from where I want to be when it comes to a lot of things within the church. A lot of these concepts are totally new to me. Like prayer- if you can imagine that. I don't ever remember praying before I joined the church (nearly 30 years of my life). Although I do remember going to church when I was little. Sometimes I forget that prayer is one of the tools I can fall back on for anything...or that I should just be doing it always for any reason at all. Those of you who grew up in the church slip into these concepts with ease and I look up to you and try to live by your examples. I am grateful to all my friends and family who remind me daily of the things I should be doing and the things I should be thankful for. You have all turned my life around and I am so happy to know that you will always be there for me.
