First Ever Owens Family Talent Show (At least for as long as I've been in the family)

Got some pictures here. Just a few out of the 100 we took. Our family, showcasing their talents for all to see. Gram and Gramps starting us off with the magic finger (sorry no pics on our camera). Then Josh, Me, and Conner bored everyone to death with the raisin skit...where Conner beat the fly to death with a drumstick rather than eat it...and then the cowbell skit- a horrible rendition of the SNL cowbell skit starring Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken. Next, Shelby "stopped, collaborated and listened" with Josh as back-up.

All the kids picked out of the hat to see who would be going next.

Wyatt pretty much just had to be everywhere at once...check out this picture...hilarious!

Owen did a crazy dance that Conner and Syd couldn't resist doing themselves.

Wyatt crawls over Miles.

One of our favorites from Owen is his "make me laugh" game that he does with Josh.

Drew pulled off a little Adam Sandler number about a Sweatshirt that EVERYONE (especially Wyatt) loved.

Isn't this picture adorable of Rae and Owen.
Raeley went a couple of times. We got to see her gymnastics and ballet skills. She did a great back bend and forward roll in the splits. Shown here is just a smidge of her heavenly ballet moves. Very impressive Raeley!!

The Carron Family sang a great song using all the letters of the alphabet and naming places all over the world...then Owen did it on his own from memory! No way!! Cool!

Brooklyn got up the nerve to show us some magic legs. First one disappeared, then the other, then both! What? How'd she do that?

We finished off the night with a little Happy Birthday to me. Hee Hee. Rae baked a cake (thanks Rae) and Conner helped me blow out the Dora candle.

An absolutely fabulous day that I hope I'll never forget.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Luv.

Kristin and Chris

The lovely couple were sealed at the Newport Beach temple on Saturday. It was a beautiful warm day and we were surrounded by family. Bliss. Absolute bliss.

More Boys

If someone tries to tell you that using Dreft doesn't make a difference...come see Wyatt after I switched out his Dreft for Gain. Now I get the pleasure of re-washing all his clothes. Yay for me. Way to go mom.

Conner is now administering his own medications. They make his face flush bright pink.

Wyatt's checking out the workings of his tongue and helping me hold down the laundry basket. He needs a haircut...I've been trying to get to that for a few days. I finally managed to cut Conner's again. After 4 days of trying to get to it.

Locked In

We locked him in. It took him a while to fall asleep. But, when it was quiet, I found him like this.

Witch Toes

Have I got your attention? These feet. They are mine. Now that I see them in a picture, they're not quite as sexy as I once thought they were...bunions and bunion scars, Tailor's Bunions (the bump sticking out the side below the pinkie toe-named so because shoe tailor's used to sit cross legged on the floor while they worked...resulting in these outer edge bunions-mine are from high heeled shoes), chipped up toenail polish, curled up old witch toes from smushing into those same evil tailor's bunion high heels for 10 years straight, and silly toe moles that pop up out of nowhere.
There is no help for these poor feet, they've walked one too many miles, but they still get me around and you just can't beat that.
I could fix 'em up a little, I guess. Take 'em to one of those fancy pedicure joints. But, umm, I'm not real big on those places. At least the one's around here. Do explain, you say? This is NOT a stereotype of all nail places (just the one's I've been to- and that's nobody's fault but my own). No one who has ever done my toes has a complete grasp on the English language. Me- "Please don't cut the sides of my toenails down too far or rip them out down to the cuticle because I get ingrown toenails." All I get is a head nod and "mhmm, OK". After which, the tiny little foot torturer shockingly belts out something completely hilarious in Vietnamese to all the other tiny little foot torturers- they all get a great chuckle at my expense. Meanwhile, while one foot is burning off in scalding hot water, the torturer cuts away at my nails, cuts the sides way down to the cuticles and rips the cuticles out and off. Dang it! I JUST told you NOT to do that! I'm seething at this point and I can feel each heart beat in my toes as they throb in pain. I'm just thinking, OK, at least the massage will be nice. Massage makes up for everything in my book. I LOVE massage. Any kind of massage can stop me dead in my tracks, rendering me unable to speak even. So, either I am way too optimistic or a glutton for punishment because: OH the massage! The massage comes. And I knew better. It's always the same. She grates along my calf bone with her knuckles and presses really hard on the tender bones in the balls of my feet. Ugg. I never leave happy. I always get an ingrown toenail, overpay the deceiving sweet talker, and walk out feeling a little humiliated about being scrutinized in a foreign language. Should I spare the extra expense and take my feet to the spa at The St. Regis? Oh bother, it's too far away anyways. I'll just stick to doing my own nails and save the massage for a professional at a real spa...
...which by the way I am doing in a couple of weeks. Hub Nub got me a massage and facial for Christmas at Burke Williams. Sweet Heaven Above! I'm in for a reeeeeeeal treat!

Another Doctor Day

Remember how Conner was being treated for Asthmatic Bronchitis? Well, he caught a cold yesterday and today was wheezing SO bad. I'm talking squeaky wheel wheezing. So, off to the allergist we went...to be prescribed 3 different meds...and to be seen again in 5 days. The doc asked me how long he'd been like that because he said he was really laboring to breath...I'm not negligent here mister...he only caught the cold yesterday!
Anywho...he had another breathing treatment at the office- between both kids screaming and crying the whole 7 minutes I'm sure they couldn't wait to see us go. He wasn't hyper afterwards this time...he got on my lap (along with WoWos) and held on to me. After leaving, I got him some reward fries from McDonald's (don't worry, it's not a trend- I was just hungry too) and he fell asleep in the car on the way home. I can only imagine what those treatments make his body feel like because I CAN tell you that I feel a little loopy afterwards just from the residual mist escaping the mask's holes. Poor kid.
As you can see in the picture, he does a lot better with the treatments at home in front of his current favorite movie (Home Alone- he calls it "Guys" after the two guys that want to "get him" (Macauly Culkin)). Josh is awfully serious here...he's trying to convey that this is hurting us way more than it's hurting Conner. Or maybe he just looks pissed because we spent over $200 on the meds alone...

Fool Me Once

Just kidding! He wasn't asleep. Just quiet for 10 minutes. No nap. SO, early to bed! Got to deal with a crazy whining crying tired lunatic until bedtime.

One Hour and Fifteen Minutes Later

He tries all the old tricks. Sobbing his gibberish hysterically over and over, "Need big kiss, miss you, need kanket, Need go uckies, kinkies go?, uh-ya un (meaning other bed)" You see there's a crib tent on the crib, that I zip, because he crawls out otherwise. But this crib tent has a hole and he throws his kinkies out said (is this the proper word?) hole and yells/screams/cries "kinkies go? etc." I fell for it once- he obviously underestimates my intelligence because he is trying it again as I write. Ha.

But what is this? An ache in my heart? My feet turning in the direction of the stairs? No! Don't do it! It's a trick! A ploy to get your arm inside the crib so he can hang on to it for dear life and cry that he misses you (again)! Waaaaaaaaait. Waaaaaaaaaaait. Wait for it....aaaaagh, yesssss, silence. Silence of the sleeping kind.

Big Shout Outs

Hey, first a giant shout out to Victoria! I tried her suggestion first....and voila...here I am with pictures again. Also, thank you to Jeggie and Cortney whose ideas were waiting in the wings.

And, another giant shout out to my pops. The miracle cinnamon roll maker. Together, we made some bread dough from a recipe we got from Jamie (Conner safe- no eggs, no milk- and makes a ton so you can freeze the dough for later) then used that to make Cinnamon Rolls for Conner. Then Bill made some "regular" bread dough for enough Cinnamon rolls to feed the 16 people we celebrated Christmas with (that's why Grandpa O's upstairs looked like this).

Before I go, I must say that this new big boy bed thing isn't working out so great. That dang child will NOT stay in it! I don't give him any chances any more. He goes straight into the crib if he gets out...but that is just not getting through to him and now he's starting to cry hysterically for longer and longer periods of time. Last night he was awake from 11;30 until 2:00- up down, in out, crying, rocking, banging, jumping. I thought I'd try locking him in today for his nap. He's been up there for 35 minutes and I can still hear him banging on the door with his kinkies (but he's not crying this time- which is good). Suggestions?

Now I can't upload pictures to my blog due to an "internal error"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried changing the security settings...no worky worky. Anyone. Someone. Please, help me!! Call me, come over, I don't care, just help me so that I can upload pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Someone's Birthday!

Did I mention that today was Josh's b-day? Dang it...make sure to wish him a Big Happy 33 when you see him. Yes, I'm robbing the cradle. No, not by a lot. He's mature for his age...ahem...I must be immature for mine. Ok, enough, seriously. Where would I be without him? I can assure you, no place good. So, here he is, celebrating the big 33. They just keep getting bigger every year don't they? And he just keeps getting riper with age, and I don't mean his socks...Ha Ha.
I feel so cliche, saying all the things he's great at or means to me: like everything. So, I'll just leave you with a little interview with the vampire himself. And you can judge him on his 33 years of life.
Warning- the answers are uncensored!
*What age are you looking forward to the most?
Josh-25, no don't put that. what did you just put. what did you just put. are you writing everything that I say? erase all of that. I really love the age i am now and life just keeps getting better

Happy New Years!

Mini Beers for children??? What will they think of next? Wyatt started his drinking a little early on New Years. Luckily Conner got a new set of plastic food for Christmas so we can all enjoy some well rounded meals.

We set the kids up in one of the backrooms at Bapas so they could watch kid movies while we watched The Dark Knight again. Nothing like watching a morbid movie to ring in the Happy New Year.

We snacked on chips and dips and the kids decided who got what.

Gram and Gramp O. gave us several choices in Martinelli's. Grape, Cranberry, or Apple. I chose grape, then Apple.

This is us at midnight. Conner had a little meltdown prior to this but his eyes are red because he's tired too. He made it to 12:43AM exactly.
