A Few Things Here and There

I know its nothing new to all you moms out there, but jeez, just eat something already child! Conner sucked the almond butter and raisins off the celery pieces and let a couple tomatoes explode in his mouth before he spit them out. But, there were 2 sandwich halves and quite a few tomatoes to start...so I figure he ate pretty well this time.

The Most Important Presidential Election of My Adult Life

I'm not looking for legal action or political debate. I just want to make mention that I voted early today. Crazy to think its been 16 years since I voted last (for Clinton's first term-yes, I voted for Clinton). Today, I voted for McCain (against Josh's better judgement-he prefers OTHER) and I also voted YES on prop 8. Thank you very much. Have a great day.

Good Day Sun Shine

The weather is getting cooler? High hopes...I thought that making some chicken broth would bring around a chill-let's feast on chicken soup and French Bread!! Should I go all out and make HOMEMADE bread using a Conner safe recipe???

Speaking of Conner safe...he had an allergic reaction today. When he got up from his afternoon nap (after lunch)his voice was really horse and squeaky. I gave him some allergist prescribed Zyrtec. We had given him a veggie burger because I wanted him to actually ingest something more than chicken or beef, rice or noodles. The ingredients did not contain any form of milk or eggs-but did contain wheat, soy, and walnuts. I'm thinking maybe the walnuts (although he is not allergic to any other nuts- he loves nuts) or cross contamination from them being processed in a factory that utilizes milk and eggs. Whatever it was, the Zyrtec cleared him up in about 25-30 minutes so he no longer sounded like a puberty stricken teenager. These allergies are a bummer. This is the most inhumane shot of Wyatt that we own. Please do not ridicule him because he looks like the Michelin Man- consider him more of a Stay Puff Marshmallow man- sweet and squishy and yummy!

Sydney (my niece) celebrated her two year birthday this weekend. I HAD to make her some stuff. I made burp cloths for someone a ways back (they were for Ella actually) and had leftover fabric so I decided to make a little quilt for Sydney's dollies. It isn't very professional, I didn't measure exactly or iron or pin...but it did the trick.

Syd didn't open presents tonight because Grandma is out of town for a funeral in Alabama -her father's brother :(. I will be giving it to her on Tuesday...so don't spill the beans. I told Rae she couldn't look at my blog until then. Hee Hee.

I admit, the dress will be a little big on her now, but I was so excited to make it when I saw it on Anna Maria Horner's blog. I could NOT find any 3 inch wide pink gingham ribbon ANYWHERE, so I had to make do with the one inch for now...but I'm keeping my eyes peeled (Ew, Yoss).

Sydney will look so precious!

Grogery Store Snob

I have to admit that I actually watched Oprah the other day...the Coupon Mom was one of her guests. She and her web site gave me that extra nudge to really make an effort at saving money in the grogery shopping department. I took her advice and scoured all the grogery adds that came to my house. I went shopping to 4 different grogery stores and only purchased the lowest priced items (compared to other stores and within each store)...and used coupons from the paper and the web site. At Ralphs alone, I saved $42.42 by just buying sale items. Get this, I shopped ONLINE at Vons (the 5th store) and had them DELIVER my grogeries for FREE (first time special)!

Yeah, its tough to do with two kids, but I had help at a couple of the stores from my sweet hubby and since you have quick short lists for each place its not too bad. I think its totally worth it. I remember my mom doing it when I was little. Have I talked myself into it enough????

So Much Fun!

This gorgeous vintage pillowcase and I only had one chance to get it right!! The final product, which I so PROUDLY and MIRACULOUSLY finished in one night (I thought it would take more), will be displayed on this blog on Sunday evening (after I give it as a gift). Seriously, I've never followed and worked

through a pattern all by myself before. I was truly frightened that I'd mess it up. But I didn't!

Mmmmm Helloooo

What happens when you leave the kids with dad? Somersaults off the command module, in last years Halloween costume, onto the top of Wyatt's head...just to name a few things.

We hit the park with friends the other day. HOT HOT HOT and WINDY WINDY WINDY! I thought we'd give Conner a run in some underwear (no diaper). Woops. I should have taken him to the little boys room as soon as we got there.

Those scary bar ladders he used to avoid are now his favorite way of climbing to the top of things. He doesn't even need my help anymore!

Bright rainbow colors don't make doing the dishes any more fun.

Wyatt will be starring in the new Star Wars Movie. Look for him in the credits as WoWos the Hut.

A Little Bit of This

I find this car and it's passengers hilarious. Beach cars and froggies, a winning combination. Who knew a 2 year old boy could occupy himself with them for hours.

My Fraidy Cat and me are DONE with Halloween projects. Believe me, I'd love to add some glitter to Mr. Meow and his bright red background-oh and liven up the other pictures and their frames-and add Halloween "baubles" and "tchatchkies" here and there-and put a cauldron stirring witch on my sliding glass doors. But honestly, I'm a little tired of staying up late after I put the kids to bed to complete these creations. Besides, our family's purse strings have been cinched really tight and I need to just stop with the purchasing already!!!!

All Kinds of Animals Around

Fall IS the perfect time to hit up the Wild Animal Park in SD with old friends. All the animals were out to play in the mild 85+ degree weather-OK, its mild for the Savannah animals. These tiny pictures don't do the wildlife justice!
All the Gorillas were at play. One young instigator even roused the Silverback into a tussle. Sooo Cool. There was a beautiful Vulture scanning his surroundings from atop an old set of bones (just like in the cartoons!) and giant pink tinged Pelican protecting its egg. After meandering their way across some logs, the 3 Cheetahs lounged together under a shade tree. The young lions gnawed noisily and greedily on their bones. Even an itty bitty teeny weeny blond baby monkey swung on the ropes next to his mommy.
Peoplewise, it was like a ghost town, so our kids ruled the park. Conner took a little dip in the sprinklers before devouring some lunch (if you call popcorn lunch). Then, last but never least, we gave some Lorikeets a sugar rush. Can't wait to go again soon!

The Rubber Lizard never had a chance!

Wyatt crawled to his Aunt Raechal last night. It was his first time, so it was slow and labored. He kept taking breaks to rest on his hip like a super model (picture coming soon). But eventually, Raechal's bling got the best of him and he raced to her. Thanks for the help Rae, he couldn't have done it without you.

He was slobbering like a Saint Bernhard last night so I checked his mouth today, and sure enough, he's working on his upper right tooth.

Wyatt is giddy over squeaky toys. He can't control anything when you squeak one at him!!! His arms and legs go crazy and he makes crazy noises. Its hilarious. You should try it sometime. You'll smile, I'm sure of it.
